The role of the rotary dehumidifier in the plastics industry

The ambient humidity present in the various processes carried out in the plastics industry has a direct impact on the quality of the final product and is especially important for converting operations involving injection molding and molding of raw materials.
Processing: Presence of Humidity
The thermoplastic or resinous raw material undergoes a heating process aimed at increasing the plasticity of the material so that the desired shape can be formed in the mould.
The humidity of this hygroscopic raw material (high water absorption capacity) and the ambient humidity around the raw material evaporate when the temperature increases, resulting in structural damage and aesthetic defects in the final product, resulting in a high percentage of product rejection rates.
Forming: Condensation
Most molding processes cool down the mold by using cold air to reduce manufacturing time and increase throughput. Basically, the colder the mold, the faster the manufacturing cycle. However, operating at lower refrigerated temperatures can cause problems with mold condensation, especially in summer, which can lead to distortion of the finished product.
A relatively simple option for preventing condensation from forming involves only raising the temperature of the mold surfaces, but higher mold temperatures mean longer manufacturing cycles and lower throughput.
The best solution in the industry to address this situation is to implement a quasi-wheel dehumidifier system that can control the dew point on the mold surface and, in turn, operate with lower mold refrigeration temperatures without condensation forming. As a result, yield can be increased while maintaining the quality of the final product.

Corrosion can affect molds during production and storage.
During production, due to the formation of condensation.
During storage, due to ambient humidity.
In both cases, regardless of temperature, humidity control saves, prevents molds from being repaired or replaced, and avoids this cost.
